Oy. It’s finally the LAST day of NYFW F/W 2016 coverage, hurrah! This is going to be a short one because unfortunately so many things came up that I’m only finishing this in April…
*hangs head in shame*
Naeem Khan
Very bohemian, gypsy, and gorgeous – of course. Impeccably embroidered gowns, sparkling sequined styles, and beautiful ballgowns dominated the collection. Not a single misstep, Khan showed exactly how a runway show should be done.
Bibhu Mohapatra
A very regal collection, inspired by Empress Dowager Cixi, who seems like a Chinese Cersei Lannister. The concubine-turned-Empress theme could be seen in plunging pleated gowns, 3D dragonfly embellishments, and the use of bold crimson, black, and gold mixed with pale pink, orange, and cream.
Dan Liu
Flirty frocks made up the majority of Dan Liu’s show. Two couples of models awkwardly holding hands and linking arms strutted down the runway, with no real explanation as to why; this theme appeared twice in a row, then not at all for the rest of the show. The dresses were cute and wearable, perfect for a friend’s wedding or a cocktail party.
