I love theme parties. Any excuse to dress up in an unusual way from my normal style is always a good time (for me at least). From pimps & hos parties in college (where I was a pimp, naturally) to our uber-successful “stereotype” party (where I was a stereotypical Rock of Love contestant- anyone remember that show?), I seriously get into dressing up and taking on the role of whomever I’m suppose to be.
So when my best friend invited me to The Legwarmers concert at the Trocadero in Philly, I obviously was chomping at the bit to get all 80s-afied! With my big hair, bold brows and love of everything patterned and bright, I know I was meant to be this age in the 80s.
Unfortunately, due to a knee injury, I knew I was going to have to forgo heels, and therefor my original hair band groupie getup. With my acid wash jeans out of the picture, I decided the comfort would need to be key for a long night of dancing. So I literally built my outfit from the ground, up.
Starting with my super comfy tennis sneakers, I topped them off with my crazy leopard-floral leggings (never did I think I’d get TWO wearings out of these bad boys), purple legwarmers, an ASOS lace back bodysuit and a vintage metal belt. My polka dot heart-shaped Betsey Johnson chain strap purse just seemed like a natural choice and was a huge hit at the venue.
The Legwarmers were righteous and the entire night was like, totally tubular! If they’re ever in your town, make sure your gear is totally fresh and you will most definitely have a rad time! (Is that enough 80s slang for you?)
