Hi-Lo there everybody!
I’m a big fan of clothes that can do double-duty, and I’m a strong believer in finding new ways to wear clothing you already own. You can’t afford to get that new short leopard print skirt but you already own a long leopard print skirt? You can make your clothes work for you.
I’ve had this mid-calf length leopard print skirt from Forever21 for a while. I like the subdued color on an otherwise lively print. It elevates the maturity of the skirt without making it matronly. However, a mid-calf length can be difficult to pull off. Not exactly as lengthening as a maxi, and not nearly as showy as a knee-length or mini skirt. Leaving it down gives the outfit a slightly Rockabilly style, and offers more coverage of course for those bad leg days. (We’ve all been there).
Wanting a more youthful, fun & easy look, I raised the hemline by folding the skirt in half and tucking it into the waistband, which I then secured by adding a belt. The jewel-dotted grey t-shirt helps keep the tonal theme going, and it makes my bazungas look awesome.
The shoes were a have-to-have purchase from Marshalls; they were marked way down (only $25) and I feel like I have an update of Dorothy’s ruby red slippers. She may have knocked them together in hopes of getting home… I hope mine bring me to the mall.

I went to the American Rag event at W.I.P. on Tuesday night where I was able to meet their new “It Girl,” Lenay Dunn. With her fresh-faced Midwest looks and sweet, bubbly personality, she was a far cry from the typical “It Girl” that’s plastered all over blogs with scraggly hair, a scowl and last night’s makeup smeared on her face. Lenay offered a charming and unjaded take on her thoughts about American Rag, Macy’s, fashion and music.
“Well, I’m American Rag’s new It Girl! It was cool,” she continued, “Macy’s reached out to me and said ‘We love the way you dress, the way you style yourself, we know you’re into music and fashion and we think you’d be great to represent our brand!’ And I was like wow thanks! Like, of course! It’s a partnership made in heaven, I love it!”
Not only will Lenay wear American Rag on her MTV show, 10 on Top, she will also be clad in American Rag as she reports from various shows and events this summer, such as Bamboozle, SXSW and Warped Tour. She will also be blogging for Raggedmag.com, the online American Rag Magazine.
P.S. American Rag also has a plus size line, American Rag Plus (which is where my awesome colored jeans are from!), that is available in Macy’s stores and online at: American Rag Plus
Lenay is wearing all American Rag.

One of my favorite jewelry designers that I own nothing by is Tom Binns. His eclectic, avant-garde designs are my cup o’ tea, but unfortunately his price range is not. (However, if anyone would like to buy me any of his stuff, feel free!)
So since drooling over his fabulous jewels won’t bring one into my life, I did the next best thing- I created a Tom Binns inspired bracelet.
After purchasing a cheap crystal cuff bracelet from Forever21, I sourced through my nail polish collection to find the most acid neon shades I could find. While those who are more organized might prefer to paint the colors in a pattern, I randomly picked crystals to be painted in either a hot pink or neon yellow, while still leaving some crystals clear for a nice Tom Binns-esq contrast.
The nail polish dried even faster on the crystals than it does on nails, so for less than five minutes of work (and less than $10 total), you have an amazing, one-of-a-kind bracelet!

It’s the Weekly Round-up!
We’ve all been there, an impromptu invite out by that cute boy, or girl, or even your gay bff, and you have no time to hurry home and change. You could meet up in your work wear, but a fresh change of accessories would make your outfit much more apropos for the venue. And besides, as much as you love your big bags they just get in the way in any packed, trendy bar.
All you need to stash in your desk is a neutral colored clutch (I prefer my neutrals in metallics) and some edgier heels that can take a beating and you can run around in.
Toss the blazer onto your desk chair, store the luscious blue suede shoes (you don’t want to see what booze does to suede!), and grab only the essentials from your work bag and throw them into the clutch. And if there’s time, touch up your makeup before you leave- this way you will take less cosmetics with you, preventing your clutch from bursting open.
A maxi skirt may be very trendy (and a great way to keep your legs warm), but the last thing you want to is become a walking mop for the bar floor. The easiest way to prevent this from happening is by taking a bit of the skirt over the front of your belt and tucking it back into your waistband. The elastic waist and the belt will help hold the skirt in place, and it gives the entire outfit a fun, asymmetrical look.
