New York Fashion Week
NYFW starts this week! Technically it starts on Thursday, but my Fashion Week will be starting on Wednesday, with 7 shows, a film premiere, and the Style Awards!
I will be updating my blog frequently with pictures from shows & events, reviews from the shows, backstage footage, and whatever else comes my way that is worth sharing with you all! Keep checking back for updates!
I will also be uploading all of my NYFW images to my flickr account, so while you’ll only see the best of the best on the blog, you can catch up with everything on flickr!
Some of my favorite past NYFW moments:
The actually real wedding at Imitation of Christ

My first experience with Katie Gallagher

My first Betsey Johnson show (right after McQueen passed)

Seeing the androgynous model Andrej Pejic modeling a collection my friend Lauren Rae Levy styled

Watching Zoe Kravitz do a 1920s style dance during the Erickson Beamon ready-to-wear & jewelery presentation

Being at the Betsey Johnson afterparty

The clothes (and shoes) (and presentation) at Sally LaPointe

My first experience with The Blonds

…I could go on forever…

The Betsey Johnson after party was amazing! Girly pink drinks, balloons everywhere, the Betsey Johnson show streaming on big screen TVs, tutu topped bartenders and fashionable people as far as the eye could see!
I wore:
Vest: Forever21+
Sheer Tunic: Necessary Clothing
Bra: Ashley Stewart
Skirt: American Apparel
Shoes: Jeffery Campbell
Tights: Spanx
Belt: Target
Necklace: Forever21

Betsey Johnson’s Fall/Winter 2012 show was a total blast from the Betsey past! With psychedelic prints, acid-hued furs, and pops of neon on classic skirt suits, Betsey reached into her archives and brought out a new twist on old classics. (And of course, what would be a Betsey show without some tu-tu dresses, Lulu in a slinky gown, Cheerleaders and Betsey’s ubiquitous cartwheel!)

I’m going to post three different versions of the outfit, please give me your opinion!

Just some more shoes from Factory’s summer market!
I spy with my little eye something that begins with the letter s….
Could it be studs? Spikes? Sexiness? Or…shoes?
With stud embellished loafers, heels and bags it’s safe to say the stud/spike trend has not jumped the shark. Betsey Johnson gave another fabulous offering through the form of a leopard print platform bootie with a stud covered back bow- mixing in a hard edgy touch to the otherwise girly look.
And Ruthie Davis continued to impress with her sparkly, glittery flats and sky-high platforms! Some of her shoes were so fun & girly that I almost mistook them to be Betsey Johnson’s!
Oh shoes… I do love you.

A nude heel is one of the most useful shoes to have in your closet. As a neutral it will work with basically any outfit, so there are no concerns about clashing. And, when you wear nude heels with a bare leg, it’s lengthening and will make it appear as if you have legs for days.
Now, when I say “nude,” I mean the color (or as close as possible) to your skin tone. So while I’m very pale (with even paler legs), women of color should seek out shoes that are in a shade that compliments their personal hue.
These specific shoes are by Betsey Johnson and are extremely comfortable, and even with a 5 inch heel, easy to walk in. Thanks to the covered platform and thick stacked heel you can strut around without concern of falling over and making an ass of yourself. They also have a leopard print sole with a tiny gold heart (not pictured), so you can appear more demure walking in, and more sex kitten on the way out.
