(We interrupt your normal plus-size style coverage to bring you a short insight into New York Fashion Week, fall 2013).

In the fashion world we’re always looking for the next big thing. I rounded up a list of the designers that you might not know yet, but you will soon.

You can see the original, as well as other articles, here.

This article originally ran in I Like What You’re Wearing Magazine, Issue 4.

Spotted During NYFW

It was disgustingly hot & humid during the first half of NYFW, so finding a light & airy outfit was key to fashion survival. I wore a similar outfit before (different, shirt, bag & shoes) but I felt it was perfect to break out in the heat of Fashion Week. And apparently others liked it as well; I was snapped by several different photogs that day. Here is just one of many to come.

Shirt: Old Navy (Size XXL)

Skirt: ASOS (Size 14)

Sandals: DV (Size 9)

Bag: Urban Outfitters

What’s black & white & red all over? Me! (That sounds a lot more dirty that I meant…) It was a glamorous affair on Thursday night; everyone was decked out in their best black & white, with the exception of one bright bold burst of color. And that stylish shade was stylist Lauren Rae Levy.

While black & white isn’t a tough combo to put together, I wanted to look more than basic. So I took inspiration from both the classic & the modern. A crisp white button-down is always en vogue, but I gave it a more updated twist by literally twisting it at my waist. I continued the dressy edge with a trendy high-low pleated skirt, black suede heels with a rose gold cap toe, and a literary (literally) inspired clutch.

Happy birthday Lauren Rae Levy!

Shirt: Old Navy (Size XXL)

Skirt: Target (Size XXL)

Shoes: Nasty Gal (Size 9.5)

Clutch: ASOS

While I adore my super long red hair, my scraggly strands were begging for a freshening up. (Who am I kidding? I was desperately overdue for a hair cut.)

Because of my infrequency of hair cuts I felt that it was time to treat myself & no old Super Cuts would do! So, on a recommendation from a friend I scheduled a session with the by-appointment-only Amalia Moscoso.

Being the steamiest day of summer (thus far), it was so refreshing to stroll into the beautifully colorful boutique salon. A hidden gem, Amalia’s salon is tucked away in an office building at the apex of one of the busiest intersections in Soho.

Amalia was sweetly knowledgeable, informing and not lecturing, regarding color care, hair hydration and other valuable hair tips. I explained what I was looking for, and she set right to work, snipping & slicing, a shower of red feathers flying everywhere.

The results? One of the best hair cuts I’ve had in years. My hair feels extremely healthy (despite the bleaching & dying), has better body and movement to it, and is slightly shorter for summer.

If you’re in NYC and in need of a hair cut, blow out, color or extensions, get thee to Amalia.

Who wants to attend a fashion show?

Who wants to attend a real fashion show during NY Fashion week? You must be following me, reblog this (likes don’t count, but feel free to like it anyway) & tell me why I should pick you to come with me.

You must be able to be in NYC on Thursday, February 9th (the show is from 1pm-2pm). No transportation will be given or compensated for. There is no promise you will get backstage or to meet the designer, but there’s a very strong chance of it. I will reveal the designer after the winner is chosen.

This is your last chance to attend! I will be announcing the winner tomorrow.

I may do more of these, depending on how many plus 1’s or 2’s I get and all…

Who wants to be my 60th follower?

While it might be naive, I’m pretty pleased to have gained 59 followers in under a week, but who wants to be #60?
